We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.

-Dolly Parton

I have forever been adjusting my sails, and have wound up in the most marvelous places. The unexpected twists and turns of my professional life have led me to where I am today: a web and user experience designer with creative ideas and inspiring solutions.

Where the wind has blown me ...

After studying Social Psychology and Communication at Stanford, I landed a job at the dream company of my youth, Lucasfilm. A Star Wars junkie from age 5, I could hardly believe I had the opportunity to go to work every day surrounded by an eclectic group of creative people. OK, so I was in marketing and press relations, which meant I wasn’t creating the next scene-stealing droid, but the atmosphere was enormously inspiring all the same.

So inspiring that I decided to strike out and pursue my own creative endeavor. I did the obvious thing … I started a pajama company.

Joining a good friend, I co-founded The Cat’s Pajamas, America’s premier purveyor of PJs with personality. Our sleepwear made you smile and could even help you fight vampires, or at least that’s what the writers of Buffy the Vampire Slayer seemed to think. We were their go-to pajama.

We produced our products locally in San Francisco and Oakland, developed a loyal fan base, and created a work environment we loved ... with office dogs.

Here is where my design education went into overdrive. Each day brought another new, exciting project. Whether it was branding, web development, promotional materials, or fabric design, there was always something artistic and fun to create.

After more than a decade designing sleepwear, the creative bug struck again. I sold The Cat’s Pajamas in order to adjust my sails and chart a new course.

I am now putting my years of experience in design and customer interaction to work as a consultant in user experience and web design.
